It’s time to shift the beauty narratives for our beloved daughters/sons, young girls/boys and women/men. It time to help them embrace their natural and unique beauty and celebrate them.

Show HER/HIM that she/he has real value and doesn’t have to compare herself/himself with others.

Does your daughter/son lack confidence in her/his appearance?
Does she/he compare herself /himself to other girls/boys or celebrities and feel she/he ’s not as beautiful as them?
Does she/he wish she/he were thinner, taller, curvier, have longer hair, less freckles, clearer skin, fuller lips?
It has never been easy to be a teenager, especially in the social media age.
The truth is, that there is an enormous pressure to look certain way, to be liked and fit in.
There’s no wonder that many teens and tweens struggle with low confidence and low self-esteem at some point.
Teens are inundated daily by digitally-manipulated images. Apps like Instagram,
Tik-Tok and Snapchat also offer various forms of photo enhancements.
Then there are photo editing apps, like Facetune and Picsart, that take these editing capabilities even further than filters.
It comes as no surprise that majority of teenage girls say they’ve downloaded a filter or used an app just to change
the way they look in photos, by the time they’re 12 years old!
Being confronted daily with images of how she/he ‘should’ look, what she/he ‘should’ wear and what she/he ‘should’ be doing to be popular or just fit in. Unsurprisingly, 70% of teenage girls/boys feel they’re simply not good enough.
And this ongoing spiral of low self-esteem is so hard to break.
For us parents, it can be really frustrating to see the child that we love so much become filled with self-doubt and low self-esteem. An although you and everyone else sees just how beautiful/handsome she/he is - both inside and out - she / he struggles to see it and nothing that you say would convince her that she / he is beautiful and perfect exactly as she / he is.
